Add a Pop of Color to Your Family Portraits

Updated: Aug 26

As family portrait photographers, we are regularly asked what to wear for the portrait session. We even encourage our clients to send us pictures of their outfits so we can help them decide what will look best for them and their family. Wardrobe, after all, is one of those things that can really elevate your portraits.

When we photographed the Biehl-Stowe family - we LOVED their outfit decisions. Mom's red dress is a beautiful pop of color that you also see a hint of with the daughters earrings. While denim (always a great casual choice) pulled the family together Mom's black tights connect well with the daughters top. Dad's shirt helps show the personality of the whole family, while the Son's sweater ties us to the Autumn weather we have in Riverside, California. There is no need to match - just to coordinate with style.

We didn't just love their outfits. We had a great time during the entire session. Although we met the family right at the beginning of 2020, due to COVID we hadn't had time to really get to know them. Now we can't wait for a time when social gatherings are encouraged so we can get to know them better - they are cool people. To be honest, not only was the whole family fun to talk to they were so easy to pose. In every images you see here they just naturally relaxed into poses that illustrate the warmth and closeness they share.

At their portrait reveal session, Mom decided they needed a larger canvas for the living room and a couple sets of mini-canvas galleries for holiday gifts (Pictures coming soon).
