City Views Aesthetic - with Layla

Updated: Aug 26

Layla has had to endure a lot to make it to her High School graduation from Norco High. She had to make room for her sister who needed care. She had to take some time away from all the fun to look after her own health. During her freshmen year she fell in love with Lacrosse and played throughout her year's until COVID shut everything down? To say the least there were a lot of bumps in the road and she worked hard to graduate and is now going onto Cal-Baptist University to begin her undergraduate degree before heading on to medical school. When we first met to plan her senior portrait session, Layla told me that she wanted her senior portraits to have city views. She wanted the city views because she knows her future is taking her to the city! I suggested that we take her senior portraits around Downtown Riverside, CA. I suggested this location because Downtown Riverside has it all. You can find gritty alleyways, old buildings, modern architecture, murals, parking garages, and even a few tall buildings.

On the day of Layla's senior portrait session we met by a great old red brick building that contrasted Layla's awesome black dress. Then she changed her wardrobe to a casual urban style that was perfect for pictures by a great mural. She changed into the cap & gown for some neat old steps. As people drove by, they yelled, "congratulations!" which added to the hype! We ended the session at sunset over at a parking garage that gave us great views of the city and some opportunity to play around on light poles, walking to her helicopter 😃, and even sitting on the edge.

I am really happy I was able to meet Layla, her Mom, and her hype-man Dillon and take some great senior portraits. One of the comments that was made during the session that made me smile was when Dillon said to Layla, "I guess we don't need to go to L.A. to get city views." He was absolutely right!
