Over the years, we have photographed the whole Martin family but last year it was only Cindy and her son. Cindy told us she didn't have any current pictures of just her and her son. So we set out to fix that problem. It was so nice to see how much her son had grown. His new passion for dinosaurs was apparent since he was nearly inseparable from his little dinosaur figurine. Our location in Riverside, CA had both sandstone blocks and palm trees so it was like a huge dino playground.
As family portrait photographers we work with children a lot. Not every child is thrilled to have their picture taken. That is one of the reasons Mini-sessions can be great - they don't last a long time. They are quick usually clocking in at just 20minutes. However, as a skilled team my wife and I can get a lot of tender portraits AND keep most children engaged (my wife is a pro at engaging the little ones). During this session we pulled out all of the tricks and captured some really sweet moments. It never hurts for mom to give a little tickle 😃.
The other thing we do it just follow the child's lead for a little bit. Often if we do their idea, take pictures with their toys, or let them be silly for a moment they will come back with the most precious expression.
One of the products we offer is a storyboard. They come in 3, 6, or 9 images. No surprise these storyboards are one of our most popular item. Folks love them because they can put together multiple images from their session in a professionally printed, mounted, and framed piece. We even have a selection of frames.
