Roxanne Rocks!

Updated: Aug 26

Roxanne is the type of senior who is fun, friendly, and honest. She loves getting sushi with friends at her (and my) favorite spot R91 in Riverside, CA. Throughout college Roxanne was really involved as a student leader so she would absolutely tell any Freshmen to get involved, get active, and go to every event you can! Really that is some great advice because college is about growth outside the classroom maybe even more than growth in the classroom.

Roxanne's senior portraits at UCR were taken on a beautiful sunny day in Riverside - we have a lot of those though so no surprise. Roxanne had a killer dress, her hair and make-up were done, she even had her regalia. Now before we met for her portrait session, Roxanne told me that she didn't really know how to pose - I could tell that she was a little uncomfortable with that aspect of the senior portraits experience. Of course she had looked at Pinterest for a ton of cute ideas but seeing posing ideas and actually contorting your body into those poses is another story. This is where I come in. This is why you hire a professional photographer. Posing is a huge part of the great pictures process.

At the start of every senior portrait session, I spend some time going over some basic fundamentals of posing. I even do many of the poses so you can see me (laugh) and then try it on yourself. Throughout the session I continue to actually do the poses (more laughs). In Roxanne's case and really every session I have ever photographed the end result is a bunch of laughs and a model who gets really comfortable posing so we can get the best senior pictures possible. Roxanne was no exception. Sure she started a little stiff and nervous but then she got comfortable and we got some great pictures. By the end of the session she was standing on the stairs at UCR looking like a rockstar ready to explode on the stage! After the senior portraits session Roxanne told me the session as actually really relaxed and fun - not exactly what she was expecting.
